Experience

Hi there! I am a visual artist and art teacher with experience teaching private lessons. I have a passion for helping budding artists reach their full creative potential, and would love to offer private lessons and tutoring. I am currently a graduate student at Parsons, the New School for Design pursuing my Master of Fine Arts, and have a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Rutgers University's Mason Gross School of the Arts. I was previously the art teacher at a private academy in Avon, CT for grades K-8, and in the summer I was the art specialist at ESF Dream Camp at Trinity College for grades 5-10. Prior to my work as an art teacher, I worked as an artist in residence at the Lutz Children's Museum in Manchester, CT, and in my spare time I painted faces at children's birthday parties and events. However, despite my various capacities as an art instructor, I am first and foremost an artist. I have extensive training in painting and drawing, as well as printmaking, photography, sculpture, installation and performance, and a deep knowledge of art history from ancient to contemporary. In the past, I have helped students build their portfolios for admission into college art programs and taught private lessons to students of all ages. One of my previous students even received a large scholarship to attend TYLER School of Art, where she now thrives. I am looking forward to continuing my work enriching students' artistic lives and helping them explore perfect new media. Additionally, I am available to tutor English, reading, and writing, as I double majored in English at Rutgers University. I concentrated in creative writing, but have extensive knowledge of English literature and essay writing as well. I am also available to tutor your student in Italian. I minored in Italian at Rutgers and studied abroad in Rome for six months. I can help you or your child become comfortable with the language or even just brush up for an upcoming test. Recently, a student I tutored found he was able to speak freely on his trip to Italy after only a few months of lessons with me. I love Italian and it would be my pleasure to share with you my expertise and passion.

Hobbies

I am passionate about art of all kinds including painting, drawing, sculpture, printmaking, photography, new media and performance. I love to act and sing and I have acted in a few professional productions of children's musicals. In addition to the visual arts, I love writing and reading. I read as often as possible and continue my creative writing endeavors in my spare time. Although I am conversational in Italian, it is my dream to someday become fluent like my mother (who has been an Italian professor for more than 10 years), and tutoring students in Italian helps me keep my skills sharp. I look forward to working with you!
